What is American Mahjong?
- American Mahjong is a 4 player draw and discard tile game with the goal to be the first player to call Mahjong!
How do you do this?
- Each player starts with a random 13 tiles with a goal to create a sequence found in the Annual National Mahjong League Book. Each player takes a turn drawing and discarding a tile with the final draw being the 14th tile needed to MAHJONG!
This fun, old tile game is quickly becoming what Bridge games were to your grandma - a time of fun, community and building friendships - one thing that socials can never replace!

At Even the Sparrow Mahjong, we believe that Mahjong is are meant to create community and friendships That's why we have created a community of Mahjong enthusiasts who come together to share their love of Mahjong and have fun.
Hannah - How it all began...
Window shopping on their last family vacation off of 30A Oh My Mahjong caught her eye. The beauty and esthetics drew her in. Quickly realizing this "game" was something more than dominos or a Uno, she studied and quickly became enthralled with the game. After taking the Oh My Mahjong instructor course, she began teaching friends and family. Game play with friends grew...today we teach at various locations weekly in the Stateliness area as well as private lessons, parties and events!
Favorite Strategy: Date your line, but marry your section. Don't commit to your line too early!

Our Community
Initially he started playing Mahjong just to make his wife happy, nightly games he has come to love the game as well!
Growing up in a family of teachers, Josh states he enjoys when players start catching on and enjoying the game as well!
Favorite Strategy: Don't Have spaces in between your groupings - it keeps your opponent guessing!
